The Document Source Actor is the producer and publisher of documents. It is responsible for sending documents to a Document Repository Actor. It also supplies metadata to the Document Repository Actor for subsequent registration of the documents with the Document Registry Actor.

Responsibilities in Profiles

The responsibilities placed on this actor in the context of each Profile is summarized here. For the actual specifications, refer to the Technical Framework.

A system that supports an Actor does not have to meet the requirements in any given Profile unless the system claims support of that Profile in the product Integration Statement.

Cross Enterprise Document Sharing

This Profile depends on the actor to:

  • submit documents and associated metadata to a Document Repository,
  • submit a document as an addendum to another document already in the registry/repository,
  • submit a document as a transformation of another document already in the registry/repository,
  • create a folder,
  • add one or more documents to a folder.
