The Document Source Actor is the producer documents. It is responsible for sending documents and metadata to recipient.

Responsibilities in Profiles

A system that supports an Actor does not have to meet the requirements in any given Profile unless the system claims support of that Profile in the product Integration Statement.

Cross Enterprise Document Sharing (XDS)

This Profile depends on the actor to:

  • submit documents and associated metadata to a Document Repository,
  • submit a document as an addendum to another document already in the registry/repository,
  • submit a document as a transformation of another document already in the registry/repository,
  • create a folder,
  • add one or more documents to a folder.

This Profile depends on the actor to:

  • submit documents and associated metadata to a Document Recipient.
