Current Activity

<BRIEFLY describe the current focus of attention of the domain committees. This should only change a few times a year. e.g. IHE Radiology has started work in the 2006-2007 Cycle on a Mammography Workflow Profile and possible updates in the area of Reporting. Contact the Technical Committee if you would like to participate, or watch for Public Comment drafts in mid-February 2007. > Quality Roadmap

IHE Quality Domain: A Call for Participation

Outreach to Clinician Communities to Discuss How to Incorporate Quality Guidelines into Electronic Health Record Interoperability

There is ongoing work in several parts of the healthcare community today to incorporate quality guidelines into clinical workflow. To support and coordinate these efforts, the American College of Cardiology (ACC), the American Heart Association (AHA), the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS), and the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA) have joined together to sponsor and launch the IHE Quality domain. Its mission is to address the infrastructure necessary to share information relevant to quality improvement in electronic patient care and health care records.

The sponsoring organizations held a Web seminar to introduce the initiative and share general information with organizations and individuals interested in participating on Wednesday, Feb. 21, 2007. An introductory presentation on the Quality domain is available for download here.

The domain kickoff meeting took place April 11-12 at the Four Points Sheraton, Chicago-O'Hare. The meeting focused on developing use cases to provide the basis for a Technical Framework to enable sharing of quality guidelines in electronic health record (EHR) applications and related systems. The next meeting of the IHE Quality domain committee will take place November 5 & 6th at RSNA Headquarters in Oak Brook, IL. The committee will be discussing the open call for quality proposals for 2008.

January 8 - 10, 2008 there will be a joint Quality Planning and Technical Committee meeting. The Planning Committee will be handing off the proposed quality profiles to the Technical Committee.
