- Wendy Scharber led a discussion of the current draft of PRPH Cancer Registry profile
- Discussed method for returning patient identifiers from registries to physician offices
- Concern about perception within registry community of possibility of exposure of PHI using HIE model for patient ID management (PIX/PDQ)
- Charles Parisot presented a review of ITI PIX/PDQ and committee discussed application of PIX and PDQ to registry use case
- General agreement that PIX/PDQ address general requirements; there may be a need for a transaction from the registry to the submitting office to indicate that a registry ID has not been assigned (eg, patient does not meet criteria)
- Wendy Scharber, Wendy Blumenthal and others involved in drafting the profile will identify whether there are technical or security needs of the registry use case not addressed by PIX/PDQ
