The IT Infrastructure Domain supplies infrastructure for sharing healthcare information. An infrastructure interoperability component represents a common IT function that is used as a building block for a variety of use cases... a necessary ingredient, but rarely visible to the end user!! These components may be imbedded in an application, but are often deployed as a shared resource within a RHIO or Health Information Exchange.

This domain began in 2003, is sponsored by Health Information Management Systems Society (HIMSS). The ITI domain supports 18 IT Infrastructure Profiles detailed in the IT Infrastructure Technical Framework.

2007-2008 Call for New PROFILE proposals

Interested parties are invited to submit proposals for new Profiles in IHE IT Infrastructure. These will be considered for development in the 2007-2008 cycle of the IHE IT Infrastructure Domain.

Proposals should follow the Brief Proposal Template and address:

  • What is the problem and how does it look in practice (use case)
  • How should things look in practice if it were fixed
  • What specific pieces of standards could be used to solve the problem.

It is strongly recommended that the proposal include the name of a candidate editor for the profile should it be selected for development. If possible, give some indication of the business case for solving the problem (e.g. what is it currently costing us).

Proposals are due by Monday, October 8th, 2007

Proposals may be either:
  • emailed to both co-Chairs: Mike Nusbaum (michael@mhnusbaum.com) and Charles Parisot (charles.parisot@med.ge.com), or
  • entered on the Profile Proposal Wiki Page
