2013-2014 ITI, PCC & QRPH Call for Proposals
2013-2014 ITI, PCC & QRPH Call for Proposals is now open through September 29, 2013
It is with great pleasure we announce that IHE International’s annual planning cycle has begun!
The IT Infrastructure (ITI), Patient Coordination (PCC) and Quality Research and Public Health (QRPH) Domains are soliciting work item proposals for the 2013-2014 Publication Cycle.
The Call for Proposals is now open and concludes September 29, 2013. Interested parties are invited to submit a brief proposal for new IHE Profiles and/or White Papers to be considered for development in the 2013-2014 Publication Cycle. This information below describes the entire annual planning cycle process from August – December 2014.

All Proposals must follow the structure and format of the Brief IHE Proposal Template, specifically addressing the following:
- What is the problem you propose to solve by this proposal, and how is that problem expressed in practice (e.g., a use case)?
- How would fixing this problem improve health care in practice?
- What specific components of standards could be used to solve this problem?
- Your proposal should identify one or more potential editor(s) in the event that the proposal is selected for further evaluation and possible development. If possible, please include some indication of the business and/or clinical case surrounding the situation when describing the problem. For example, is there an economic motivation for addressing this problem immediately?

2013 PCD Call for proposals
Greetings IHE Community and Others Interested in Medical Device Interoperability, It is with great pleasure we announce the IHE annual planning cycle has begun and the Patient Care Device (PCD) Domain is soliciting proposals for the 2014-2015 Publication Cycle (year nine). The Call for Proposals is now open until September 30, 2013. Interested parties are invited to submit their proposal using the Brief Proposal form (form attached) for new IHE Technical Publications and/or White Papers to be considered for development in the new Publication Cycle. This e-mail describes the annual planning cycle process from August – December 2013.

Proposal Structure
Proposals must follow the structure and format of the IHE Brief Proposal template, specifically addressing the following:

Summary of IHE’s Multi-Phase Proposal Process:
1. Submit Brief Proposals by September 30, 2013 by 11:59 CDT
PCD’s Brief Proposals should be sent to the PCD Chairs to the PCD Domain email, pcd@ihe.net. PCD Domain Co-Chairs and secretary are:
• Greg Staudenmaier, Planning Co-Chair
• Monroe Pattillo, Planning Co-Chair
• Manny Furst, HIMSS Secretariat
2. Planning Committee Email Ballot to Select 2014-2015 Brief Proposals: October 1 – October 15, 2013 Ballot will include proposals for review at the Planning Committee’s (PC) F2F October meeting.
3. Planning & Technical Face-to-Face Meeting: October 8-10, 2013 Includes Proposal Review Save the Date! Planning and Technical committee meetings will be held in Boca Raton, FL.
• Planning Committee meeting will be held Tuesday, October 8 and jointly with the Technical Committee the morning of Wednesday, October 9.
• Technical Committee will meet Wednesday through Friday (approximately noon) October 9-11. The joint Planning Committee (PC) & Technical Committee (TC) meeting will include discussion of the proposals.
• Specific information including hotel, travel and agenda’s will be posted on PCD’s Wiki.
4.Detailed Proposals due by November 11, 2013 at 11:59 CDT.
Following discussions and PC ballot, the TC will welcome Detailed Proposals based on those Brief Proposals that were approved by the PC. If your proposal is approved, you will need to submit the Detailed Proposal to the PCD Technical Co-Chairs and secretary. pcd@ihe.net. The domain co-chairs and secretary are:

5. Technical Committee Opens Email Ballot to Survey Final Proposals: November 12, 2013 Ballot will determine which of the final Proposals are of highest value in the industry, and which will garner the support of the company sponsors (i.e. commit resources).
6. Technical Committee WebEx Meeting to Review Proposals and Survey Results: November 20, 2013. Proposals submitted earlier may be discussed at an earlier date.
7. PCD TC surveys members to measure the domain member’s interest in each proposed work item. TC’s review the Detailed Proposals and the survey results during one of PCD’s regular scheduled committee meetings, which normally take place on Wednesday’s in December, and are held from 10-11am CT. December meeting date TBD.
8. Technical Committee Closes Email Ballot: November 25, 2013
9. Technical Committee begins developing new supplements in December 2013

HIMSS 2014 IHE Educational Proposals

HIMSS has officially opened the Call for Proposals for the Educational Sessions during HIMSS14. HIMSS will give preference to proposals that demonstrate the adoption and optimal use of healthcare information technology and management systems, so IHE is the perfect candidate.
