• Draft HIMSS13 Showcase Assignment -- the four Use Cases that include PCD.
• High Level:

- Please note that there are a small number of participants asked to support two use cases – I hope you can do this; please let me know if not.

- There are use cases where devices are asked to do double duty – e.g., a bed, monitor and perhaps others are in the ED and ICU or ICU and Med-Surg. Please consider if the transitions in the clinical story can be made clear in the script or if we need a second item.

• Responsibilities

- Each participant is REQUIRED to communicate with partners in their use case to make sure that senders and receivers support the parameters that will be employed. These will be defined with an eye on the clinical story.

- Test these parameters at the Connectathon. You are encouraged to include them in the Virtual/Internet testing leading to the Connectathon.

• Use Cases

- Discuss the four in detail.

- After the meeting we have approximately a week to consider the assignments made. We will then consider the assignments as cast in hardening concrete.

• Clinical Story (Script)

- We will seek volunteers to help define the “clinical story” and IHE PCD story that will be provided to visitors.

• Designing the Demonstration

- Specify the physical dimensions of each component of your system, with special emphasis on the items that will be on the wall.

o All displays are wall mounted.

o We have approval to employ larger monitors. We will discuss the desired sizes (e.g., a minimum or maximum size, the desirability of the EMR being larger, etc.) Tuesday (e.g., 27” and whether we should strive for consistency; should the EMRs be permitted a larger size, etc.).

- Specify power and networking requirements for each component.

• Display Monitor Sizes

PCD has an opportunity to use display monitors larger than 24”. During the meeting 28” and 32” were suggested. John Donnelly suggested that we seek technical data to help determine the minimum size that makes it possible to view PCD data. Monroe provided the two links below. Additionally, he suggested that increasing pixel density can improve the ability to see the data. When we consider this issue next week we need to consider

- The impact larger monitors have on the size of the PCD structure (and the cost).

- The possibility of permitting (not requiring) the EMRs to have a size larger display.
