Summary

Standardize implementation of key DICOM objects to provide a common understanding of the standard. Define expected RT Structure Set, RT Plan and Ultrasound content for brachytherapy treatments for the following types of treatment:

High Dose Rate (HDR) Afterloading

Pulse Dose Rate (HDR) Afterloading

Low dose rate (LDR) Permanent Implants

Low Dose Rate (LDR) Temporary Implants

Benefits

Resolves differing interpretations of the Brachytherapy RTPlan object that have caused interoperability issues.

Standardizes RT Structure Set content between contouring systems and Brachy planning systems.

Creates a common way to amend an Ultrasound image so that they can be used interoperably for treatment planning.
