Discussion

  • IHE F2F in Ghent Belgium – Tentative dates are September 8-10
    • Depends on COVID restrictions
    • Mary to send out google poll of how many can travel to Europe – for two weeks
    • Need to follow the country’s vaccination rules

  • SET
    • Publication of SET for comment is available
    • Publication date for public review is July 31

  • LAW
    • Ralf presented on a LAW update that is needed:
      • IHE LAW profile does not allow the sending of Alternate Identifiers together with normal identifiers, but LOINC is recommending it.
      • Options to update were discussed and the following was recommended and agreed upon:

    • Comments: Reviewed the CP – chapter 2.3.1 might need to be moved. Don’t want to do that. So that is why CP is written the way it is.
    • Adopted 2.9 – can allow second alternate ID; Ralf has people already asking him to use it.
    • Riki will review the CP and get it published for comment.
    • There are calls with DICON on specimen mapper on Mondays from 1-2pm Central US
    • https://confluence.hl7.org/display/OO/2021-07-12+Specimen

  • New proposal Lantana was presented by John Spinosa: An Initiative to exchange RBC phenotyping information using FHIR IG
    • There are not many interfaces between blood bank donor centers and information systems
    • The need and importance were presented:

    • The proposal is for Lantana to work with partners to
      • Develop a standard for exchange of blood product genotyping and phenotyping information for BECS and BBLIS incorporation
      • Expand and convene a group of key stake holders to launch this work and support it with domain expertise
      • Leverage the momentum of the core group and standards development project to procure funding that will carry through feasibility (Connectathon) testing, ballot, ballot reconciliation and publication.
      • The current and supporting efforts to date include the San Diego blood bank, HaploGNX.
      • There will be presentations on this effort at HL7 working groups
      • Lantana is requesting feedback, information on related efforts, working group sponsorship and stakeholder participation.
    • It was recommended the Lantana set up a webpage about the project that can be put on the IHE PaLM webpage.

  • DPIA update: On a joint call with DICOM WG 26, there was a decision made that an SAC segment will be added to the DPIA profile, but the identifier can be the same as the parent container and/or ignored if the glass slide and tissue on the slide have the same ID. No objections from LIS or Scanner vendors in the end; so there was consensus.

  • SET update: The document is updated for review.
