I am VP of Engineering for Ascend HIT, a small R&D stage firm focused on improving cardiovascular procedural reporting workflow. We will be leveraging already established advanced structured reporting capabilities for cardio, developed by our parent company, and building related capabilities and services around it dependent on appropriate and open integration with the healthcare enterprise and various vendors. Hence my strong interest in joining IHE.

Half of my 23 year career in software engineering and systems architecture has been spent on medical systems; including diagnostic imaging, medical image networking and archival devices, SaaS reimbursement systems for long term care, and now in the cardiovascular reporting and analytics space. I was also a member of ACR/NEMA working Group VI in the early 90s that developed DICOM 3.0; serving as editor of "Part 5: Data Structures and Encoding" at that time. I have also worked in the building (HVAC) controls space, and as a consulting software engineer and solutions architect across variuos industries.

I have a BSEE ('86) and MSCompE ('88) from the University of Michigan, and an MBA ('08) from Walden University.
