Action(s):

2 2013 N A Connectathon
- Manny
Status/Discussion:

Open Q & A:

- Pre-Connectathon Testing: Manny asked if there were any concerns with the NIST test tools. John Garguilo noted that the IPEC tests have been updated in the tool.
o Manny indicated that a Tcon with Masimo indicated that there may be some new parameters.
- Later in the meeting John Garguilo described the Testing Google Group. He noted that NIST uses this GG to communicate the NIST test tool status and issues as well as issues with profiles and standards. Developers are welcome to join. Manny noted that archives are available on the various GGs.
- Virtual/Internet Testing
o Manny asked if anyone has begun this portion of the process. No one responded. He noted that the Excel workbook has company contact information and requested that any additions be sent to him for updating the spreadsheet.
o Manny reminded participants that the Virtual/Internet testing process is an opportunity to achieve success in Chicago. He emphasized its importance for those who haven’t participated in the past.

Decisions/Issues:

Action(s):

3 2013 Showcase
- Manny
Status/Discussion:
- Manny asked for volunteers to identify significant concepts to include in the scripts. He noted that scripts from 2011 are available on the ftp site. While each use case at that time emphasized a specific profile, all profiles were demonstrated.
- Physical layout and pulse ox coding: Al has suggested that we settle on 32” display monitors. Manny will revise the wall layouts to reflect this as well as Masimo’s request to move to med-surg in UC 14. Masimo proposed to demonstrate alarms resulting from a patient’s respiratory distress due to pain med delivered by PCA pump. There is a recent JCAHO Sentinel Event on this issue.
o This will require a PCA pump as part of the story; Manny requested volunteers to provide a PCA pump for this story.
o John Garguilo asked Gabe if they will use Rosetta terms for the alarms. Gabe will contact Paul Schluter to address this. He noted that the POI message structure is slightly different from the basic PCD-01. Paul recommended that PCD settle on IEEE terms as primary, noting that not all required terms are available in SNOMED and that PCD has a path for adding terms in IEEE and that cross reference to SNOMED terms would be available in RTM.
o Manny will contact Covidien to explore demonstrating the same concept in UC 1.
- Scripts: Masimo has offered to lead development of the script for UC 14. Others interested in working with Gabe will have his contact information in the Excel workbook.
o Manny indicated that early identification of concepts PCD wants to communicate can help HIMSS assure that we communicate these in the clinical story.
- Wall layout: Manny referred to the sketches asking that members verify that all devices, displays are accounted for. While the walls do not reflect the actual layout, they are essential in defining the dimensions of the wall. Manny reminded participants that there’s a request for dimensions and electrical requirements. He asked that data from last year be verified and that LCD monitors be assumed to be 32”.
o Manny will ask Sandy to learn if Freeman will rent 32” monitors.
- Ancillary Devices: Manny will borrow beds from Stryker and Hill-Rom. He requested interface vendors indicate which bed they can support or if there is another device that would add to the message. GE will provide an incubator or infant warmer to support the NICU. Paul asked for confirmation that Nuvon will interface with the warmer and that it is needed for the story.
- Manny reminded participants that they need to verify that the parameters sent and received and are appropriate to the clinical stories. Sending and receiving systems need to communicate.
