Agenda

Showcase Portion of the Agenda

  • General
In general, it appears that we have reasonable representation of the three profiles on all three walls (and stories). A few issues are apparent:
- Where and how to include the SPD (filter) option – is time available in the logical place (DEC/mother/baby) and/or elsewhere?
- Where and how to reference work in progress, notably WCM (and the same can be said for events, MEM and other efforts)? Posters? Part of the handout? Included in the script?
- What is an appropriate clinical story that provides the framework for discussion of the profiles on each wall?
- Should the ventilator (if a second vent is available) be on the ACM or PIV wall? The PIV wall has fewer steps.
- How do we work Meaningful Use into the three profile focused walls?
- What will the Meaningful Use wall require in the number and type of devices?
- Is Cerner appropriately represented (they are asked to provide IOP on two walls, may be able to show other capabilities)?
- Are all vendors who are asked to provide multiple systems able to do so? With the need to speak to three, if not four profiles, we need to populate the other walls, and this will require at least one, if not two or three additional devices. Also, with so many devices on the DEC wall, and limited time to provide visibility to each type, I would like to see many represented on a second wall.
- Are the three EMRs and SIS’ periop system capable of displaying representative data from the various systems (DOR at least)?
- What should be in the handout (last year’s is at ftp://ftp.ihe.net/Patient_Care_Devices/Showcases/HIMSS2010March/Handouts/)?
  • Potential Clinical Stories
- For your consideration only: ACM a heart patient (e.g., congestive heart disease), PIV a transplant patient (lots of drugs). Your thoughts?
  • Posters
- We will make use of posters to provide visitors with more detail and fill in gaps, and to provide vendors with a way to address questions. Last year’s posters are at ftp://ftp.ihe.net/Patient_Care_Devices/Showcases/HIMSS2010March/PCD_Posters_2010/. This year we will need at least the following posters:
For the MU wall:
- Meaningful Use (at least some of last year’s posters are on the ftp site identified with Wall 4). Some devices will be needed, TBD.
- Work in progress?
- NIST test tooling?
- IDCO profile?
For the specific walls:
- ACM: WCM, Events
- DEC: Tie PCD Hospital Messaging, EMR data with external systems: OB office on the entrance side, Public Health (hearing report) and Baby’s medical data to a Pediatrician on the departure side.
- PIV: ?
- For the three, do we add a MU poster?

3 Testing
-
Status/Discussion:
  • Pre-Connectathon and Connectathon Tests
There are discrepancies between NIST tool steps and the Excel descriptions. They appear to be mostly patient demographics. If this is the case users should employ the demographics referred to in the NIST tool. Robert reported an issue with upper case vs. lower case. In these and other discrepancies that may arise, if developers are confident in their implementation upload the NIST report and a Word or text description addressing the discrepancy.

4 Showcase Scenarios
- Manny
Status/Discussion:
  • General
A significant question is: Do we have reasonable representation of the three profiles on all three walls (and stories)? The correlary is do we have sufficient visibility of the devices and systems? Within the specific agenda items and related discussion, these questions were partially resolved.
Specific items:
- Where and how to include the SPD (filter) option – if time available the logical place is the DEC/mother/baby wall but it may need to be demonstrated elsewhere.
- Work in progress, e.g., WCM should be on a distinct area. This could be a part of a “PCD summary” type area, with past, present and future addressed. It is likely to be a wing wall, perhaps the back of the 8 foot extension provided for DEC. In addition to posters it may become part of the handout and included in the script.
- Suggestions for appropriate clinical stories include congestive heart failure for ACM, transplant patient for PIV. Al suggested that all pumps be operational simultaneously to demonstrate interoperability.
- The ventilator (if a second vent is available) should be on the PIV wall because it has fewer steps.
- Meaningful Use should be included in the three profile focused walls as well. Volunteers ________ will work with John Rhoads who is leading the MU message development on that wall.
- Meaningful Use wall will require some devices. Some participants will be asked to support this.
- Cerner will provide IOP on two walls, may be able to show other capabilities.
- We will need to determine if all vendors who are asked to provide multiple systems able to do so. With the need to speak to three, if not four profiles, we need to populate the other walls, and this will require at least one, if not two or three additional devices. Also, with so many devices on the DEC wall, and limited time to provide visibility to each type, it is desirable to see many represented on a second wall.
- Manny to ask the three EMRs and SIS’ periop system to verify capability to display representative data from the various systems (DOR at least).
- We will need to develop a handout. Suggestions are welcome. Last year’s is at ftp://ftp.ihe.net/Patient_Care_Devices/Showcases/HIMSS2010March/Handouts/.
ACM: WCM, Events here and/or on a PCD Summary area (see above).
DEC:
- Tie PCD Hospital Messaging, EMR data with external systems: OB office on the entrance side, Public Health (hearing report) and Baby’s medical data to a Pediatrician on the departure side.
For the MU section or wall:
- Meaningful Use (some of last year’s posters are on the ftp site identified with Wall 4). Some devices will be needed, TBD.
PCD Section:
- NIST test tooling
- IDCO profile
MU on all other walls:
- For the three, we should consider an MU poster.
