2. RO Connectathon - FDA Visit
- Event held Sept. 20-24 at ASTRO HQ
- FDA representative, Paul Jones attended and demonstrated FDA "Assurance Cases"
- Use-case focused testing structured similarly to IHE profiles
- Focus on producing evidence and arguments; limit to the analogy with profiles
- Has been implemented for infusion pumps
- RO treatment systems are next in line for testing
- Document for comment expected in next several weeks
- Expressed interest in allowing manufacturers to use Connectathon results in 510k filings to show that product meets Assurance Case criteria
- May work with ASTRO on ways to include Assurance Case criteria in future testing
