For example, we found that many systems assume "administrative gender" is whatever they need it to be. Labs assume it is a clinical sex they can use for reference range determination. Payers assume it is the insurance card sex. This can work if the meaning is pre-coordinated between specific trading partners, but often folks are just making incorrect assumptions.
