Status updates
- Exam status update
- Werner reports: In 2025 the number of exams decreased by 50%. In 2024 100 exams took place, in 2025 around 50.
- The exam was last revised 2 years ago.
- If there are further questions please feel free to contact Werner Henschelchen.
- Reports from attendants
- Sofia took the exam two years ago.
- Werner mentions that examinees feel that the exam is "fair". The pass rate is 80%.
- Who takes the exam: EHR providers, consulters, sometimes institutions send larger groups of attendants. This is not very steady. Exams sometimes concentrate around Connectathons.
- We may think strategically about groups that we want to motivate to take the course and the exam.
- There are opportunities from many current initiatives, also in cooperation with others e.g. HL7, EU EHDS, ...
Exam and Syllabus
- The method to develop the exam is to be updated, using Generative AI
- Werner provided a procedure using AI, and a more agile review process
- This method also enables to provide questions to help trainees to prepare for exams
- Exam questions will be revied by experts. Each expert will only see less that 20% of the exam questions.
- The process for developing exam was developed in 2019. This involved a dedicated exam developers group. (Training providers must not know the exam).
- Aaron suggests that we ask larger groups of experts to join this effort.
- ToDo all: Please review the exam development process. We want to decide on this in January 2026
- The Syllabus needs updates
- Reference to Antilope Project, FTP Site was replaced by Google drive, ...
- We want to present an updated Syllabus in March 2026.
- Could we present a draft version of the Syllabus in March 2026, and ask for feedback?
- ToDo Mathias and Stefan: Prepare a "delta analysis" to summarise the elements of the syllabus that need to be updated. This shall enables us to estimate the effort for revising the syllabus.
- We can also present a draft syllabus / example training exam in March 2026
- How do we assure sufficient expertise to provide feedback?
- The syllabus limits itself to the core principles of IHE. We should be able to develop this with too much external expertise.
- The IHE Education Committee decides on the Syllabus, the processes. Werner is in charge of the exam development process. Aaron mentions that we may consult with other IHE committees, e.g. Board Operations Committee, IHE Board.
- Discussion, next steps
- The goal is to use the planned IHE Education Committee calls to prepare a presentation of the results at the European Conectathon in Brussels in March 2026.
- Werner reports that so far not much interest was in the USA
- Steps to further enlarge the audience, have more trainees and IHE Certified Professionals
- Tuesday morning in the Connecthaton week Brussels 2026 may be a good slot to present the status of IHE ICP.
