:** We have approx 88 CPs assigned to active RAD Tech members and another 33 CPs assigned to inactive/former members.  We discussed ways to reduce the number of out-of-date CPs.  Lynn described two strategies used by ITI:  (1) At a F2F meeting, Tech Cmte members are divided into groups of 2-3.  Each group examines 20-ish old/assigned CP to make a recommendation for resolution.  (2)  Very old CPs were identified (e.g. > 10 years old).  The list of CPs was announced on the ITI Tech list with a message that the committee proposed to Cancel these CPs, allowing the community to identify CPs that should NOT be cancelled (speak now or forever hold your peace).  CPs with no objection were cancelled as stale (apparently not needed because we survived for a decade with the problem).

:*** CP-RAD-364 Clarify IID (Andrei) - review and refine CP contents
:*** CP-RAD-474 Add Series-level display in IID (Kinson) - we discussed whether this requested change should be done to IID RAD-106. Andrei proposes putting this functionality in a separate transaction that would become part of IMR.  Defer decision to when Kinson is present.
:** Other Assigned CPs ready for discussion: </b>
:*** Revisit decision to Reject Preethi's PDI CP as a subset of (large) CP 305 - agreed.  CP-RAD_548 with PDI changes is assigned to Lynn.  Reviewed; changes suggested; needs one more review before ballot ready.
:*** CP-RAD-537 - Misleading definition for “Instances-stored” Audit Trigger (Lynn)
:*** CP-RAD-547 - Update Radiology Audit Trail Option text for clarity (Lynn)

:*A2: 1:00pm-1:30pm:  Administrative Time
:*S3: 1:30pm-3:00pm: Cross-Community Access for Imaging (XCA-I.b) - including '''Checkpoint assessment''' as follows:
** Describe gaps in Use Case coverage
*** none identified
** Review ALL "uncertainty points" in the evaluation. Is there a resolution plan for each?
*** all resolved. Some residual uncertainty/complexity around how firewalls/security mechanisms will affect retrieval pathways. Plan to write concept section for Public Comment.
** Do the effort points in the evaluation still seem right?
*** Yes.
** Did the Breakdown of Tasks accurately reflect the work? What extra tasks arose?
*** Yes. no extra tasks arose
** Describe unresolved technical issues/tasks
*** the task of writing the concepts section esp re: security still needed
** Describe potential practical issues
*** Need to consider many security environments this may be deployed into.
*** Should try the expert review on this topic.
** Review the open issue list. Does it feel complete
*** Two main issues are included, expecting couple more arise during the PC prep
** Which open issues feel most risky; what other risks exist?
*** both have straightforward resolution; main risk is security environment complexity.
** How is the work fitting in the allocated bandwidth? (Time to spare? Just right? Things were left undone?)
*** About right
** How does the scope feel? (Room to expand? Just right? Pretty ambitious?)
*** About right
** If you had to reduce scope, what would you drop?
*** limit extent of Concepts section
** Have the promised resources manifested?
*** yes
** What tasks would benefit from additional expertise?
*** security review
** What vendors are engaged for each actor? Record how many.
*** Expect that XCA-I gateway vendors would implement this (Siemens, Hyland, VISUAPPS); WIA Consumers/Sources would be good candidates as well.
***Need to reach out to XCA-I Imaging Gateway vendors; also to MCWG for list of vendors they work with.
** Was the profile where it needed to be at the start of the Kickoff meeting (See "Kickoff Meeting" above), if not what was the gap
*** yes; pre-meeting helped
** Was the profile where it needed to be at the end of the Kickoff meeting, if not what was the gap
*** yes
** How many tcons would you like between now and the PC Prep Meeting?
*** none

RAD Tech Minutes - Profile Development Kick-off 2024-25 Cycle - Face-to-Face Meeting, RSNA Headquarters, Oak Brook

Quick Links

Monday, November 11, 2024

Participants: Andrei Leontiev (Visage), Antje Schroeder (Siemens), Wim Corbijn (Philips), Marc Kämmerer (VISUS), Harald Zachmann, Yasunari Shiokawa (JAHIS IHE Japan), TeRhonda McGee (RSNA), Jamie Dulkowski (RSNA), Chris Carr (RSNA), Kevin O'Donnell (Canon), John Paulett (Rad AI), Lynn Felhofer (IHE TPM), Steve Nichols (GE), Kinson Ho (Tempus), David Kwan (IHE Canada), Matt Blackmon (Sequoia), Harald Zachmann (Merge/Merative), Jason Nomura (Emergency Medicine Physician), Matthew Flannigan (Corwell Health Grand Rapids), Khalid Younis (SIIM), Brian Bialecki (ACR), Rob Ferre (Indiana U), Abhijit Deshmukh (Fovia), Charles Parisot (IHE)

  • A1: 8:45am-9:00am Administrative Time
    • Introductions and Agenda Review
  • S1: 9:00am-11:00am: POCUS EBIW Extensions (POCUS)
  • S2: 11:15am-12:15pm: Maintenance
    • CP-RAD-xxx-PREETHI_remove-outOfDate-ReviewOption - assigned to Lynn as CP-RAD-544. Approved as Completed & ready for ballot.
    • CP-RAD-xxx-Refactor-RAD-16-for-Retrieve-reuse - assigned to Lynn as CP-RAD-545; changes will be reviewed later in the week
    • CP-RAD-xxx-Refactor-RAD-30-and-31-for-reuse - assigned to Lynn as CP-RAD-546; changes will be reviewed later in the week
    • CP-RAD-xxx-PREETHI_PDI-Inconsistency in grouping requirements - this CP is related to (a subset of) changes proposed in Assigned CP-RAD-305 (Revise profile dependencies/grouping in Vol 1). We decided to reject Preethi's PDI-specific CP, and Lynn will review the proposed scope and changes and ensure that these are included in CP-RAD-305. We also decided to move forward with this old CP 305 in the coming year.
    • CP-RAD-537 - Misleading definition of Instance-Stored Audit trigger
      • decided to split editorial refactoring changes into new CP-RAD-547 assigned to Lynn. Keep original scope from Bruno in CP-RAD-537; 537 will be dependent on 547 and balloted together.
      • discussed/adjusted refactoring edits.
  • A2: 1:00pm-1:30pm: Administrative Time
    • continue review of CP-RAD-547
  • S3: 1:30pm-3:00pm: AI Results Assessment for Imaging (AIRAI)
    • discussed & clarified use cases
  • S4: 3:15pm-4:45pm: Cross-Community Access for Imaging (XCA-I.b)
  • A3: 4:45pm-5:00pm: Administrative Time
    • Explore idea of RAD Tech adopting work of moving IHE CARD Intravascular Imaging Option for CATH TI Supplement to Final Text
      • At first glance at the Supplement, it looks like the editorial work is straigt-forward to integrate the changes into CARD Vol 1 and 2
      • We agreed that the normal IHE Final Text process should be followed
      • Chris Carr reminded us that, for governance, there needs to be a sponsor for this work. RSNA does not want to be the sponsor of record in moving this Option/Supplement to Final Text.
      • Lynn reported that, though this option has been tested at Japanese Connectathons, the test cases for this option are not in Gazelle Master Model (GMM)
      • We agreed that the normal IHE Final Text process should be followed
      • TO DO (Kevin to contact Nakano-san): Seek a professional society in cardiology to sponsor the CARD domain for this official act (moving Supp from TI to FT). This professional society is potentially: https://www.j-circ.or.jp/english/
      • Once the sponsor is on-board,
        • IHE RAD Tech could set aside time at a future F2F (or tconn) for a joint RAD/CARD discussion of next steps (agreeing on ownership for tasks and ownership for approval). We expect that the sponsor would identify a person to take responsibility for doing the Final Text checklist. We also expect that someone from RAD Tech could do the editorial work to integrate the supplement and work with Mary on publication
        • Once the Final Text checklist is done, another joint RAD/CARD discussion would be scheduled to review and approve the checklist

    • UpdatedAssessment of RAD profiles sheet to identify profiles to target for Final Text, Retirement, or Deprecation in 2025. Also added/updated the definitions of 'Retired' and 'Deprecated' in Row 1 of that sheet. For RAD Tech members who volunteered as advocates, see:

  • A1: 8:45am-9:00am Administrative Time
  • S1: 9:00am-10:30am: AI Results Assessment for Imaging (AIRAI)
    • Evaluate KOS vs Result Tree approach
  • S2: 10:45am-12:15pm: Maintenance
    • Top ten CPs ready for discussion:
      • CP-RAD-364 Clarify IID (Andrei) - review and refine CP contents
      • CP-RAD-474 Add Series-level display in IID (Kinson) - we discussed whether this requested change should be done to IID RAD-106. Andrei proposes putting this functionality in a separate transaction that would become part of IMR. Defer decision to when Kinson is present.
    • Other Assigned CPs ready for discussion:
      • Revisit decision to Reject Preethi's PDI CP as a subset of (large) CP 305 - agreed. CP-RAD_548 with PDI changes is assigned to Lynn. Reviewed; changes suggested; needs one more review before ballot ready.
      • CP-RAD-537 - Misleading definition for “Instances-stored” Audit Trigger (Lynn)
      • CP-RAD-547 - Update Radiology Audit Trail Option text for clarity (Lynn)
      • See more below
  • A2: 1:00pm-1:30pm: Administrative Time
  • S3: 1:30pm-3:00pm: Cross-Community Access for Imaging (XCA-I.b) - including Checkpoint assessment as follows:
    • Describe gaps in Use Case coverage
      • none identified
    • Review ALL "uncertainty points" in the evaluation. Is there a resolution plan for each?
      • all resolved. Some residual uncertainty/complexity around how firewalls/security mechanisms will affect retrieval pathways. Plan to write concept section for Public Comment.
    • Do the effort points in the evaluation still seem right?
      • Yes.
    • Did the Breakdown of Tasks accurately reflect the work? What extra tasks arose?
      • Yes. no extra tasks arose
    • Describe unresolved technical issues/tasks
      • the task of writing the concepts section esp re: security still needed
    • Describe potential practical issues
      • Need to consider many security environments this may be deployed into.
      • Should try the expert review on this topic.
    • Review the open issue list. Does it feel complete
      • Two main issues are included, expecting couple more arise during the PC prep
    • Which open issues feel most risky; what other risks exist?
      • both have straightforward resolution; main risk is security environment complexity.
    • How is the work fitting in the allocated bandwidth? (Time to spare? Just right? Things were left undone?)
      • About right
    • How does the scope feel? (Room to expand? Just right? Pretty ambitious?)
      • About right
    • If you had to reduce scope, what would you drop?
      • limit extent of Concepts section
    • Have the promised resources manifested?
      • yes
    • What tasks would benefit from additional expertise?
      • security review
    • What vendors are engaged for each actor? Record how many.
      • Expect that XCA-I gateway vendors would implement this (Siemens, Hyland, VISUAPPS); WIA Consumers/Sources would be good candidates as well.
      • Need to reach out to XCA-I Imaging Gateway vendors; also to MCWG for list of vendors they work with.
    • Was the profile where it needed to be at the start of the Kickoff meeting (See "Kickoff Meeting" above), if not what was the gap
      • yes; pre-meeting helped
    • Was the profile where it needed to be at the end of the Kickoff meeting, if not what was the gap
      • yes
    • How many tcons would you like between now and the PC Prep Meeting?
      • none
