RAD-TF-Split-Notes

Problem

• During 2019 CP integration into RAD TF Vol 1 & 2, the Word documents were so large that they became virtually unusable.

History of progress

• March 2020 - Lynn did a 'trial' split of Vol 1 and Vol 2 in to separate word documents and then consulted to Mary
• April 2020 - Mary experimented with these documents and determined that it is possible to 'combine' these separate word documents into a single published PDF.
• mid-July 2020 - target for republishing RAD TF Final Text documents

Decisions

• General
  • Mary's guidance is that keeping Word documents to 200-ish pages keeps them manageable
  • The TF page on ihe.net will list the contents of each document
• File naming conventions
  • PDFs:
  • Word documents:
• Volume 1
  • Vol 1 (single PDF)
    • contains front material and all profile chapters and Volume 1 appendices
    • the current combined PDF is < 4MB so no need to split in the foreseeable future
    • Word input documents: In April 2020, there are 5 separate Word documents to combine into Vol 1 PDF
• Volume 2
  • Vol 2a (single PDF)
    • contains front sections plus [RAD-1] - [RAD-75]
    • the current combined PDF is approx 8MB
    • Note: RAD-75 is the 'highest' transaction that if Final Text in 2020; we could choose to 'close' Vol 2a at RAD-75, or (in a future year when more profiles go to FT), we could decide to add additional transactions to 2a
    • Word input documents: In April 2020, there are 4 separate Word documents to combine into Vol 2a PDF
    • references: RAD TF-2: x.y.z (i.e. not RAD TF-2a: x.y.z) (these are updated in RAD as part of the 2020 work; updates to TI Supplements deferred until they are updated for another reason)
  • Vol 2b (single PDF) future; not needed in 2020
    • contains [RAD-aa] - [RAD-bbb]
    • i.e. starts with Section 4.aa (no front material)
    • references: RAD TF-2: x.y.z (i.e. not RAD TF-2b: x.y.z)
  • Vol 2x is separate document (single PDF)
    • contains all Vol 2 appendices
    • Word input document: In April 2020, there is 1 Word document for Vol 2x PDF
    • references: RAD TF-2x: x.y.z (these are updated in RAD as part of the 2020 work; updates to TI Supplements deferred until they are updated for another reason)
• Volume 3
  • Will contain no transactions; these are moved to Vol 2
  • Contains:
    • Section 5 Transaction Options on other Domain Profiles (audit rqmts). Unchanged.
    • Section 6 IHE Radiology Content Specifications. Unchanged.
    • Section 7 Namespaces and Vocabularies (OPEN: No content in this section today).
• Volume 4
  • no change

Open Questions

• Does SWF.b go Final Text in 2020?
• Regarding Vol 3 Section 7...what do we do about documenting Radiology Namespaces?
