Revision as of 21:51, 17 October 2007

IHE Patient Care Coordination (PCC) domain was established in July 2005 to deal with integration issues that cross providers, patient problems or time. It deals with general clinical care aspects such as document exchange, order processing, and coordination with other specialty domains. PCC also addresses workflows that are common to multiple specialty areas and the integration needs of specialty areas that do not have a separate domain within IHE.

IHE Patient Care Coordination manages the PCC Profiles and the Patient Care Coordination Technical Framework.

The Patient Care Coordination Domain is sponsored by:

HIMSS
Health Information Management Systems Society
ACP

Upcoming Events

There is a face to face meeting this week for the planning committee to review profile proposals for the 2008-2009 season.

A detailed event calendar for the Patient Care Coordination committee can be found here.

Face to face meetings generally start the first day at 10AM, and end the last day at 3PM time to allow participant sufficient travel time to arrive and leave. During the week, meetings last from around 8:30am to 5:30pm depending upon workload. All meetings are telecast so that folks unable to travel can attend via phone. Profile proposal editors should be present at face-to-face meetings.

Committee Activities in 2007-2008

Each season we go through a Profile Selection Process, which helps us decide upon which profiles to develop for that season.

In the 2007-2008 cycle we worked on the folloinw profiles:

  1. Functional Status Assessments
  2. Query for Existing Data (QED)
  3. Emergency Department Encounter Record
  4. Lab Public Health Reporting Content
  5. Antepartum Summary (APS)
  6. Technical Framework Updates

And a white paper on:

  1. Clinical Research, Public Health and Quality use of EHR Data

During the selection process, we update our Roadmap, which shows the strategic direction of the domain. Work which isn't selected for the current season may be placed upon the roadmap for reconsideration in a future season.

Profiles that are selected are developed according to the Development Timeline, which shows when we have face to face meetings, and the important delivery dates.

The ongoing work of the committee also includes the processing of Change Proposals to the current technical framework and supplements from the prior season.
