Topic | Discussion |
---|---|
Data Model | This discussion was around the 2002 ventilator information model (based on ISO/IEEE 11073-10201). Purpose of the discussion was to stimulate thought regarding grouping of vent information and to see how this may need to be updated in the future. One question was the intent / meaning of defining an "Airway Flow Channel" and a "Resp Flow Channel". Todd will go back to some of the original participants to see if they can remember the discussion. Part of the thinking may be related to where the parameters are measured, namely ventilator or airway/patient. Also, with respect to the Vent Control Settings Channel, there was a sense that considerably more detail needs to be added here. Paul Schluter also mentioned that constraining the data model to 8x11 was forcing too great of a generalization ... perhaps working on an 11x17 would help?! |
Control Settings | The task group's focus was reconfirmed, focusing initially with establishing an approach for representing vent operational modalities, then moving on to breath-to-breath annotations and waveforms, and finally identifying any other parameter gaps that may exist. Paul mentioned that the controls should include (a) clinical targets/intent, (b) resulting settings, and (c) actual operational parameters, including derived controls. |
Waveforms | There was a substantive discussion regarding the need to include waveforms in the profiling activity. This should not only include support for correlating breath-to-breath annotations, but also events and semantics that result from the operational control mode. Paul Schluter mentioned that though the annotated ECG work didn't include control, the pacemaker terminology work does include both monitor and control semantics, and the general approach may be applicable to this activity. Also, Paul mentioned that there is no agreed upon format for real-time waveforms and annotations. Though this is very important component to the vent profiling, the difficulty shouldn't be underestimated. |
Gaps | Among the identified "gap" areas, humidification semantics. |
F2F | There was general agreement regarding the posted schedule and agenda for the upcoming face-to-face meetings April 24 & 25, 2008. |
