I placed some (more academic) slides on the FTP where various definitions of a SOA are given ([[1]]). What I think is important is that SOA refers to an architectural style (so its neither a pattern nor a methodology..). Using the "vocabulary" of actors and transactions, defining their semantics, and providing rules for connecting them, IHE currently uses its own "style". Therefore one of the challenges of the White Paper will be to identify the most relevant properties of both styles and then to map them onto each other. Joerg.caumanns 20:53, 25 January 2009 (UTC)
