IHE Radiology addresses information sharing, workflow and patient care in radiology, including mammography and nuclear medicine.
IHE Radiology is sponsored by the Radiological Society of North America and manages the Radiology Profiles and the Radiology Technical Framework.
There are four committees:
Timeline: 2008-2009 Development Cycle Milestones
The Timeline shows the main milestones of the development cycle, the Timeframe when they are typically expected to happen, and the actual date/time/location they have been Scheduled for this year. Specific meetings and their agendas and minutes are generally listed on the IHE Radiology Planning Committee and IHE Radiology Technical Committee pages.
Dates and times are U.S. Central Time (Chicago).

Roadmap
The Radiology Image Sharing Roadmap examines use cases and solutions for sharing images both locally and distributed widely.
The Radiology Roadmap outlines goals and plans over the next 5-10 years.
Current Activity
The 2008-2009 Work Items are:
- PDI (Portable Data for Imaging) Extensions
- improving high-compatibility exchange of imaging data on media by adding new options for the use of DVDs, USB drives, Compression, Encryption and onboard "sending software"
- Basic Image Review Profile
- baseline specifications for a DICOM image viewing application, addressing needed features, user interface elements and minimum performance requirements
- XDS-I.b (Cross-Enterprise Sharing for Imaging) Profile
- to retire image sharing based on XDS.a and adopt image sharing based on XDS.b
- Perfusion & Diffusion Profiles for Enhanced MR/CT
- to improve consistency in how Perfusion & Diffusion studies are encoded in the Enhanced CT & MR objects
- PDI (Portable Data for Imaging) Extensions
For draft documents and the current status of IHE Change Proposals, see Radiology_Technical_Committee#Current_Activities.
Recent Activity
Final Text
- Teaching File and Clinical Trial Export (TCE) - was evaluated and approved for Final Text and was folded into v9.0 of the Radiology Technical Framework.
