Minutes

  • IHE Radiology Overview
    • 23 final text radiology profiles
    • 22 trial implementation rad profiles
    • 5 new profiles published in 2015
    • Continuing effort: IHE-J updates and IHE PCC Cross Domain collaboration

  • 2015-2016 new profiles selected for development
    • Tech framework maintenance
    • Cross enterprise read for imaging
    • REM

  • Connectathon
    • Connectathon: RIS drop out. How do we incentivize people testing radiology profiles?
      • Action: IHE Radiology Planning and Domain Coordination Committee need to develop action plan to outreach to companies regarding key roles undersubscribed.

  • RSNA Image Share Demo
    • 12 participating companies with focus on 4 areas.
      • Action: Visit IHE Image Share Demonstration at Booth 1345 and provide your feedback to informatics@rsna.org; need input on how to shape demo

  • RSNA Image Share Validation Program
    • Alignment with IHE Conformity Assessment Program
    • IHE profiles provide the basis
    • Registration for pilot testing program opens in Jan 2016
    • 5 companies have expressed interest in participating; need 3 more
    • Connected to image share network which currently has 12 sites

  • IHE Membership
    • 150 org total
    • Reached the minimal acceptable revenue to meet our projected budget.
    • Need to invest in outreach and marketing that we haven't been able to do.
    • Goal is to be fully self supporting by the end of 3 years.
      • Action: IHE Radiology Planning Committee will determine how many companies on the roster haven't paid and develop outreach to them.
      • Ideas: Designate a national deployment committee representative to radiology committee; Salt is a good example of this; Host a Public Comment meeting in nation like Tokyo. Group can meet and develop their comments and communicate it to IHE Radiology Technical through national deployment committee representative.
      • Make sure we are providing membership value.

  • 2016-2017 Development Cycle - Promotion
    • Excellent profile submissions this cycle. How to promote ideas this year.
    • Created 2 simple slides and gave to SIIM presenters to include in slide deck promoting Profile submission information. Good response from doing this.
      • Action: Create 2 simple slides with submission information and provide to SIIM presenters again.. RIC will tweet to their people. Maybe reach out to ECR and JCR? Reach out to profile authors whose proposals were not accepted so they continue to submit.
      • Action: Need a stronger connection between RSNA RIC and IHE Radiology. Need to develop an IHE strategy with a bigger roadmap. We have a bandwidth issue and bottleneck.
      • Action: IHE Radiology Planning will work with Secretariat to get more of the university hospitals to join IHE so they can vote for their proposals.
      • Recommendation: Let physicians know they can join as a department instead of the entire hospital. Less expensive and faster way to get them engaged. .

  • Challenges
    • Too many profiles in Trial Implementation
    • Too many outstanding Technical Framework Change Proposals
    • Ask how many organizations/vendors plan to implement or take profile to Connectathon
    • Teleconference participation is challenging for clinicians.
      • Action: Assign a mentor to clinician in the brief proposal submission stage.
      • Action: Invite collaboration between RIC IHE subcommittee.
