Pharm Tech Minutes 2016.02.02
Attendees
- Overview of work items
- IHE Supply White paper
Some updates from Christian. Jose has put the white paper as is in the FTP: ftp://ftp.ihe.net/Pharmacy/yr7_2015-2016/Technical_Committee/Whitepapers/Supply%20of%20products%20for%20Healthcare/IHE_White_Paper_Supply_V31_2016_01_29_ch.docx
Progress is slow, but white paper should not take much more energy and time away from the profiles, since we ave already sufficient to start. Decision is to start implementing the profiles, and eventually complement the white paper with additional information as it becomes evident from the profile work.
- Educational Material (Short guidance)
The FMD guidance is available on the FTP. ftp://ftp.ihe.net/Pharmacy/yr7_2015-2016/Technical_Committee/Educational_Material/IHE%20Pharmacy%20FMD%20guide_Draft.docx Esther is interested in volunteering some of her work and expertise in the preparation of such material - namely for UDI.
- IHE Supply Profiles
- Ordering and Delivery - overview of transactions
- Inventory
- AIDC (Bar codes)
Discussion on how these approaches fit together. Outcome is captured in a slide deck: ftp://ftp.ihe.net/Pharmacy/yr7_2015-2016/Technical_Committee/Whitepapers/Supply%20of%20products%20for%20Healthcare/Supply%20Transactions%20and%20standards%20-%20HL7%20WGM%20Jan2016%20%20RevIHE%20Including%20barcodes.pptx
The proposed barcode transactions are not only about decoding but alsoto get additional, context-dependent information about a barcode. Jose explains that this is a common element of all our supply transactions, and there is an overlap. Examples: - All supply and even existing Dispense / Administration transactions can support barcode data strings (for use as an identifier or for posterior decoding), OR the decoded elements if the application has the decoding capability (slide 10) - If an actor needs to check whether a barcode is for an aspirin of brand A or brand B, this is a (future) catalog query. - If an actor needs to check whether a dispensed or consumed product is suspect of counterfeit, this is a dispense or consumption transaction (slide 11)
The barcode decoding transactions will be assessed by Esther and Robert, and then they decide if they will assist in the currently planned transactions, or work in those dedicated transactions.
