09:00 - 11:00 Medication Documentation

  • Status update
  • Marco: Status hasn't changed much, no substantial changes to the document
  • Stephen: presents some slides of the Australian eMM (electronic Medication Managment) project
  • Thoughts of the group concerning the White Paper:
  • Separation of the Whitepaper the following two parts:
  • Reference structure for Medication data
  • Resides on the "Workflow Level" (= actual recorded medication information, no interpretation)
  • "Bottom-up" approach
  • IHE Pharmacy has the lead, HL7 Pharmacy contributes (co-sponsor)
  • Goal: To examine all possible sources of information within current IHE profiles and create specifications for harmonizing data structures or whatever needed to get interoperable software on the basis what we have right now
  • Side-decision: No distinction of "Current" and "Past" medication list, because it's clinical unsafe. We just target a "Medication History List" (and leave the clinical evaluation to the phycisian).
  • Medication Profile
  • Resides still on the "Workflow Level" (but more sophisticated: actual recorded information + additional information + eventually interpretation)
  • HL7 Pharmacy has the lead, IHE Pharmacy contributes (co-sponsor)
  • Goal: Provide all needed information for proper prescribing, advising or managing medication
  • Medication Management
  • Resides on the level of "Medication Therapy" level
  • Open who deals with that. IHE and HL7 has no work on that at the moment.
  • Australia (Stephen) has done a lot of work on that topic
  • This point seems to be very important to be worked on
  • Common discussion between IHE and HL7 Pharmacy how we govern this topic
  • Next steps:
