09:30 - 11:00 PHARM Strategy and Vision
Outlook, Visions
- Status quo
- PHARM is present since 2008 -> 8 years old (we are not a startup anymore!)
- We have achieved a good set of profiles, where 3/4 of them have an uptake in real world
- Nation-wide specifications in Austria and Switzerland are based on IHE PHARM Community profiles to a wide extent
- Constant complaint: Low participation of vendors at CATs
- Reasons:
- Austria: One large vendor and a government agency created an API, which all others are using
- Switzerland: Open-source "eHealth Connector" has been created as an API, everyone will use it
- -> This explains the low participation
- Current work-items: Mobile Medication Administration (FHIR), Supply chain
- Short-term goal: Where do we want to be at the end of this season?
- Supply chain
- Whitepaper is 100% completed, public commented, balloted and published
- At least the first concrete profile is defined and ready to be started
- ... or more :-)
- Mobile Medication Administration (FHIR)
- The profile shall be 100% completed, public commented, balloted and published
- Our outlook and vision for the next 3 - 5 years?
- Vision: "An e-Medication landscape which is integrated and interoperable"
- Mission: "All exchanging of medication-related information is enabled by leveraging profiles based on current and well-accepted standards"
- Strategic goal 1: "We want to define a complete set of connectivity services for exchanging medication information based on FHIR (Prescribing, Dispensing, Administration, etc.)"
- Strategic goal 2: "We want to define a complete set of connectivity services for medication supply information"
- Identified threats and challenges
- "Competition/Overlap" with HL7
- Make sure to keep up with the high speed of HL7 FHIR Resource development!
- Make sure to create profiles not too late (including also other standards if needed), to maintain "our part of the mile" towards interoperable systems on the market!
- Resource problem
- We should get support/funding from potential uptakers of profiles to be created!

- For Prescription and Dispense there is about 90% overlap between the two specifications
- The other profiles CMPD, PADV, PML, MTP are not referenced by epSOS

Joint meeting in 2017 in Madrid
- HL7 has a meeting in Madrid from May 6-12, 2017
- Venue: Marriot Auditorium Hotel and Comfort Center (at the airport)
- Proposal: Let's do a joint meeting day 2017 in Madrid
- Friday May 5 (before HL7 meeting begins), preferred!
- Friday May 12 (at the end of the HL7 meeting), problem with overlapping eHealthWeek in Malta (May 10-12)
- Invited groups: IHE / HL7 / ISO
- Meeting place should be at another place as the Marriot
- Intention: Having a "working session" rather than an "information exchange session"
- Proposal: Finding 2-3 questions, we would like to get answered in a common approach
- e.g. Working on FHIR resources based on our own developments (common profile)
- Decision: The group agrees to such a meeting
- Action item: Check possibilities within AGFA Madrid for support in finding meeting space (Marc)
- Action item: Approach HL7 and ISO to check, if they are willing to meet to such a meeting (Michael)
openMedicine
- openMedicine project homepage: Homepage
- Goal: Shall solve the problem of different identification of medicine in different countries (in prescriptions and dispenses)
- Tool for resolving this issue: IDMP standard, taken up by European Medicines Agency (EMA)
- Findings: Standards missing, see slide 7 of presentation
- See presentation: Presentation
- Current status:
- Plenty presentations about openMedicine at eHealthForum in Athens
- Project ongoing until end of year 2016

- Key contact points are Pharmacy, Workflows and Orders&Observations
- FHIR will be published as "STU 3" (standard for trial use) as of December

- Location on the FTP: Medication Data collection folder
- Urgency is not present, Jose has other priorities
- Decision: Work-item will be put on hold. Until it is re-activated ...
- ... it will NOT be shown on the work-item list anymore
