The Medical Equipment Management - Devices Management Communication (MEM DMC) profile defines an HL7 V2 message for communication of detailed information about medical devices to information consuming systems that might manage the device, such as Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) for device on network tracking and maintenance management.

Device Management Information Consumer - The Device Management Information Consumer (DMIC) actor consumes or receives medical device equipment observations. Transactions Device Management Information Observation - The Device Management Information Observation (DMIO) contains observations of device identification (unique identification, versions for software, firmware, hardware) and status (power, power source, battery, self-test, etc.). This transaction might not commonly contain patient associated information and would likely be destined for a CMMS and not for an EMR for EHR storage. Upon receipt of the DMIO transaction by the receiving DMIC actor shall send a receipt acknowledge message.
