Special Presentation

  • IHE Guideline Transmural Multidisciplinary Consultation Oncology (Tie Tjee)
  • In IHE The Netherlands we started a Working Group in which the primary healthcare process is the leading principle, instead of developing an IHE profile. The reason to do this approach is, that we wanted to connect in a better way with the layer of healthcare professionals. Our basics are the multilayer model of interoperability. By telling the healthcare professionals that their process will be leading for the supporting layers, they will be eager to join this working group. We connected with NABON (National Breast cancer Consultation Netherlands: national multidisciplinary consultation body of healthcare professionals which are involved in the diagnostics and treatment of breast cancer) and SONCOS (the same topic but now in the context of professional associations). These bodies just finalized their professional guideline and we’re actually stuck at the point “how do we come to the phase that their guidelines are implemented in the systems they are using?” It is now interesting to see what the impact was of this approach in terms of adoption of this IHE Guideline by the MoH, the Association of Healthcare Insurance companies, the vendors and the awareness at the healthcare professionals that the IHE methodology helps them to come to interoperable solutions based on standards.
