IHE is an initiative by healthcare professionals and industry to improve the way computer systems in healthcare share information. For general IHE information and Official IHE Publications, please see http://www.ihe.net.

IHE is a standards organization that focuses only on Profiles (also called Implementation GUides). IHE takes use-cases and puts forth the best (current) solution leveraging standards. IHE has worked for decades side-by-side with HL7, FHIR, CDA, DICOM, OASIS, ASTM, ISO, and other standards organizations.

Systems that implement IHE Integration Profiles work together better, are easier to implement, and help care providers use information more effectively. The goal is efficient delivery of optimal patient care. Several hundred products support one or more IHE Profiles.
