The Antepartum Profiles is a supplement that contains a family of profiles that represents the critical information needed by the clinician caring for a patient's pregnancy. The profiles within the antepartum summary are Medical Summaries and inherits all header constraints from Medical Summaries.
The Antepartum Profiles includes the following documents:
1. Antepartum History & Physical - The initial assessment and physical
2. Antepartum Laboratory - Laboratory Evaluations
3. Antepartum Education - Education Record
Additional commonly used forms not included in this profile are:
4. A patient generated obstetric medical history
5. A postpartum form
Summary

The Antepartum Summary (APS) Profile contains the most critical information needed for obstetrical care, including ongoing Medical Diagnoses, the Estimated Due Date, outcomes of any prior pregnancies, serial visit data on the appropriate growth of the uterus and assessments of fetal well being, authorizations, laboratory and imaging studies. - Specifies the content to be extracted from an EMR system used in an obstetrician’s office, how it is to be codified and organized for packing in an electronic “envelop”
- Specifies the meta-data to be used for identifying the APS document in the XDS Registry

Actors
There are two actors in the Antepartum Profiles, the Content Creator and the Content Consumer. The sharing or transmission of content from one actor to the other is addressed by the appropriate use of IHE profiles described in the section on Content Bindings with XDS, XDM and XDR and is out of scope of this profile. A Document Source or a Portable Media Creator may embody the Content Creator Actor. A Document Consumer, a Document Recipient or a Portable Media Importer may embody the APR Content Consumer Actor.
