  • AAMI Mini-Showcase: This includes (numbered only for convenience in referring to the item):
- 1. What profiles, devices will be of most interest to attendees? Note that AAMI has significant investment and commitment to alarm and infusion pump safety. In addition to these high priority topics the primary audience will also likely be interested in efforts underway in PCD’s MEM WGs. MEM WGs are addressing data/network security, device operational and other data communicated to the CMMS systems in the clinical engineering department, and will likely begin work on interoperable RTLS/RFID messaging this year.
- 2. How to demonstrate interoperability without an EMR (interface vendor(s)?)?
- 3. What mix of devices is optimal given the space defined by four tables (two each 8 foot tables at different heights; see attached and the ftp site: http://www.aami.org/meetings/aami2012/exhibit/index.html)? How can we demonstrate all or selected profiles?
- 4. What posters (if any) enable more detailed discussion with visitors than can easily be provided by the demonstration (see last year’s posters on the same ftp site)?
- 5. What handout (if any) should be provided (see last year’s on the same ftp site)?
- 6. How can we publicize the Mini-Showcase to attract attention on the exhibit floor, help users and vendors understand the importance of interoperability, and simultaneously benefit PCD, IHE, the co-sponsors (AAMI, ACCE, HIMSS)?
a. What prior news releases and perhaps insert into the AAMI handout at registration? Other ways to publicize the Mini-Showcase?
b. How can we call attention to the vendors who are participating? Would small posters on medical device vendor booths (those that are present on the exhibit hall floor) be of value?
c. Would posters at the booths of the CMMS (and possibly RTLS/RFID) vendors who have committed to the MEM initiatives be useful?
i. Would these vendors be interested in displaying posters describing the benefits that these initiatives will provide?
ii. Would these posters be smaller copies of a poster at the HIMSS/AAMI PCD booth?
d. What handout (if any) makes sense for HIMSS, AAMI and ACCE in this venue (this is the HIMSS booth doubled in size by AAMI and financially supported by ACCE)?
- 7. What will it cost each vendor? Costs in excess of the $2000 provided by awarepoint through ACCE will be shared by the participating vendors. Assuming 6 vendors (there may be a few more or less) the costs are unlikely to exceed $300 each if someone brings the switch.
